Emma-Jean Lazarus Fell In Love by Lauren Tarshis

Sequel to Emma-Jean Lazarus Fell Out of a Tree

Cute story, once again.

These books actually have a lot in common with the Stargirl books-- only without the stuff that bugged me. :D

For one, Emma-Jean is a 7th grader, which age would have made the Stargirl books make far more sense.

AND Emma-Jean stays true to herself (and consistently written) through both books, unlike Stargirl.

In this second book, the 7th grade is abuzz with the upcoming dance-- which both fascinates and baffles Emma-Jean.

Throw in a few "romantic entanglements", an anonymous note, and another of Emma-Jean's "helpful" letters and you have an amusing tale indeed.

Quick read, too-- I know because I finished it before even being called back at my doctor's appointment. No kidding. Less than an hour cover to cover.

Unfortunately this left me still in the waiting room... without a backup book.

In fact, I actually pulled my notebook out of my purse and wrote this blog post.

Yeah, I could have read "High Five" magazine, but since I had neither child with me I figured I'd spare myself that one. And I was called back before I became desperate enough to scavenge the other tables for better magazines.

While waiting for the dr. I amused myself by reading the ridiculous prices on the spotlighted Halloween costumes in some random parenting magazine. I mean really, people pay 50 some odd dollars for a hat and mittens? The green onesie they paired with it wasn't even included. Granted it made for a cute little green dragon, but seriously? I got full costumes for $10 each-- and they were Disney.

Sigh. Stepping off the soapbox now...

Go read the Emma-Jean books already. :D

  1. These books sound like a lot of fun. I'll have to look into them for me and my daughter.
