I read 16 books in April.
The funny thing is, 15 of those I read by the 16th! Between the 17th and 30th, though, I read ONE measly book.
So the first half of the month rocked.
The second half.... not so much.
I blame Netflix.

Hmmm, did I ever do a January review post? Maybe we'll just do a quarter review, how does that sound?
January- 23 books
February- 7 books
March- 21 books
Total- 51 books
Yes, I read Con and Conjure twice. Yes, I counted it both times.

In Review
Since I haven't posted a month in review since life went all crazy on me, I figure we'll just call this a several month review. Or something.
Dang, I don't even remember the last month I recapped... I think March.
So April... 5 whole books. Wow. Lame.
But not as lame as May, when I read 1 book and it was a Nancy Drew. Finished up the Nancy Drew challenge with that one.
June- 5 books again, plus a DNF.
July was a much better month all around. I did have 2 DNFs (really unusual for me) but I read a lot.
16 books for July.
Total books this year so far (not including DNFs)- 81
Total DNFs- 3
Total library books- 51
Total local author books- 2
Total book club books- 3
Total Virtual Book Tours- 7
Total Tribute book tours- 3
Total other books received for review (read)- 6 +3 DNF
Total books received for review so far this year- 60
So now I think we're back on track. Hopefully. :)

January in Review
It was the month of Tolkien! lol
Books read-- 25!! GO ME!
Nancy Drews-- 10
Support Your Local Library-- 19
Rereads-- 4
Reader's Choice-- 3
Virtual Book Tours-- 3
Book Club-- 1 (yeah, I'm still like 3 behind, but hey.)
So all in all, it was a pretty good month. If I could keep this pace up, I'd double my goal of 150 books for the year! (Let's not count on that, though.... I don't think I can keep it up. lol)
How's everyone else's new year going?

2010 Year in Review
Since I skipped a couple of month-in-review posts, here's a quick summary--
November-- 13 books read, 7 were rereads and 3 were Nancy Drews... 1 VBT and 7 were library books
December-- 15 books read, 7 were Nancy Drews, 13 library and 2 received for review
So, here's a look back at the year 2010, by the numbers:
152- the number of books I read
+ 2- that I sort of read
+ 1- which I totally didn't get past like 30 pages in
=
155 books
120- the number of library books
+10- the number of books/ARCs for review (that's read, not received)
+11- the number of Virtual Book Tour books
=
19- The approximate number of books that were ones I own (not including received for review) (yeah, okay, I skipped some of the math.... never was good at showing all my work)
6- the number of Book Group books I actually read.... this isn't as bad as it seems, there were only 8 I still haven't gotten to the other 2
11- number of books that were rereads
Now let's review the challenges I participated in (or didn't, whichever)
Support Your Local Library-- 120 books!! Woohoo! That's 20 over my goal! I plan to shoot for over 100 again this year.
Nancy Drew Challenge-- 32/56 Could be worse. I've read one more since. I plan to finish this up in the next couple months
Take Another Chance Challenge-- Let's face it, I bombed. I read 2 whole books. Oh well.
Shelf Discovery-- 2 again. Yup, I suck at this whole challenge thing.
Support Your Local Authors-- 11 which isn't too bad, but with soooooo many amazing authors here it's shameful, really. I WILL do better this year.
Reader's Choice Challenge-- 34 Not bad, but not amazing. I did really well the second round after not doing too well the first round. This year will be better!
My only other goals for the year-- DO NOT join a bunch of challenges! lol
And keep better track of books/ARCs received for review...
Anybody have a good system for that? My "throw them on a shelf" technique leaves much to be desired. :D

September-- In Which I Crashed and Burned
I read 4 books in September.
Pitiful.
Seriously, I think that's my lowest monthly total in.... forever or so.
Not sure what happened, just kind of got myself in a funk. Ah well, it's a new month.
:)
(And I've already read a couple of books in this new month.)

So KEEP READING! The new list will come out in July, but until then, let's finish this one up!

March in Review
It's April! Holy cow! Mother Nature totally missed the memo, though. There's a freakish amount of snow outside.

Book Club Books-- nope. Still haven't even started March's book. Shame on me.
I promise, I'll start reading again at some point. Really I will. I've just gotta get to the point where I'm not falling asleep constantly. :D

February in Review
It's March. How did that happen?? I mean, I know February is a short month, but dang.
Books read-- 7 wow that's sad...
3 were YF/JF or YA
Challenges--
Nancy Drew-- 2 read
Take Another Chance-- 1 read
Support Your Local Library-- 6 read
Support Your Local Authors-- nothing this month
Shelf Discovery Challenge-- 1 read
Reader's Choice-- 3 read (good thing too, I'm seriously behind!)
Virtual Book Tour books-- um... nope, none this month
Book Club Books-- none read this month, because I read February's in January and haven't started March's yet.
On the non-bookish front, Mister PASSED his peanut challenge!! Halleluja!!! No more worries for me!
In other news, Baby J's dress is done except for sewing on the buttons... at least until she makes an appearance and I decide if I need to edge the neck to make it smaller. Her Easter dress is also done and I'm working on Boo's coordinating shirt. Next up is Mister's coordinating vest and bowtie. I'd better get at least one good picture of all three of them out of this.
This Wednesday officially marks the 36 week point, which means anything is fair game!n This baby can come any time. I'm still kind of hoping to make it to the 15th because of stuff going on that I don't want to miss, but we'll see. If I suddenly disappear for a while, y'all know why. :D

12 of them were JF/YF/YA and one was a novella, but hey. :D
Challenges--
Nancy Drew-- 6 read

Shelf Discovery Challenge-- nothing this month, though I did go through the book itself and make my list!
Reader's Choice-- nothing this month
Virtual Book Tour books-- 1 this month
Book Club Books-- 2 this month! I read January's (Binky the Space Cat) and February's (The Secret of the Old Clock)
All in all, not a bad month!
In other news, I'm completely insane and have decided to crochet baby J's blessing dress. (A baby blessing being more or less the LDS equivalent of a christening.) This is definitely the hardest pattern I've ever attempted... using the tiniest hook I've ever used.... and thin cotton thread rather than yarn...
Either it'll keep me from nesting myself out of my mind or it'll kill me. :D
I've done 5 whole rows. When I have something more to show, I'll take a picture and post it.

November-- In Which I Am In Disgrace
7 books.
How pathetic is that? I think it could be my worst monthly total this year.
Really really sad.
Ah, well, what can you do?
It was a busy month. Boo's birthday, and getting her library card!, both well-child-checks (can I tell you this was the last time we're combining those. Holy cow.), ultrasound, Thanksgiving, totally avoiding Black Friday, Chuck E Cheese (disgusting pizza. I mean really really disgusting.).... plus I swear the month had to have been missing a few days. Otherwise how could it be the 30th already?
(and that could be the most screwily punctuated paragraph I've ever written....)
Anyway. Here's to doing better in December.... Or just surviving December.... either way.
:D
Oh and that "Clear Off Your Shelves" Challenge? I totally failed. I read one. That's right, in the past 2 months I've read ONE book off my shelves. *hanging head in shame...*

September-- a Retrospective
Because what I usually call these posts escapes me at the moment.
(I warned you yesterday, my sinuses are taking over and I have very little intelligent to say.)
Anyway.
12 books in September.
8 of those were read in the first week of the month.
Hmm. There's something unbalanced about that.
3 were Reader's Choice, 3 were rereads, only one was a JF, one was nonfiction, 2 virtual book tours, less than half of the 12 were mysteries. :D
Also muddled through some more of Mormon Scientist. I'm starting to think I simply won't be able to finish it. Sigh.
Interesting note-- only 4 of the books were stand-alones. I read a lot of series. Only 3 of the books I read in August were stand-alones. And here I thought I wasn't more interested in series than I am stand-alones. Interesting what numbers can tell you.
Speaking of Numb3rs... I still haven't watched the season premiere. Something else was on my husband wanted to see and since I can watch Numb3rs online, he won. (Actually I wanted to see the other thing too. Though it completely escapes me at the moment what said other thing was. Hmm.) All I have to say about the Numb3rs premiere is if they try to go back to Charlie and Amita hemming and hawing about their relationship, I may scream.
Just you wait, I have a whole post dedicated to ranting about such things next week.
I know, you can't wait.
:D

August in Review
13 books in August. That's not too bad for a summer month, right?
4 mysteries, 3 yf type fantasy, 1 Virtual Book Tour, 1 book not finished, 1 urban fantasy, 3 historical/mystery/romance (all Deanna Raybourns... I read all three in like a day and a half), a couple of thrillers... a couple of Reader's Choice.
Not too shabby. Only 19 Reader's Choice to go... hmm. Maybe I should start really reading those.
No book club books finished this month... I'm still slowly plodding through the July/August book. It's good, it's just feeling hard to commit to.
No monthly possibilities either. They're still on hold. Through the end of eternity apparently.
Finished the Summer Reading stuff-- picked out our prize books on Saturday.
Boo got The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog, yea!
Mister got a Diego book with "e'pants" in it, so he's happy.
The adult choices were a bit slim. Several romances... no thanks. A couple of Patricia Cornwells... nah, I stopped reading hers a while ago. Too creepy and the characters are just not overly likeable people. Totally just my opinion, though.
I ended up with one called Dark Horse by Tami Hoag. Anybody heard of it? Hopefully it's good. We'll see. The problem with books I own is that they don't have a due date... so we'll see when I actually get around to reading it!
Dark Horse is a popular title. You put it in on Amazon and come up with all sorts of things.
That's not the cover I have, though. I have the hardback. That's the mass market paperback.
Which sparks an interesting question-- do you prefer paperback or hardback?
I'll buy either if the price is right, but when it comes right down to it-- I like paperbacks. They're easier to deal with. They aren't as heavy if I want to shove the book in my massive purse. They're easier to hold up if I'm reading in the tub.
How about you?
