Angry Birds

(copies received for review)

To go along with the movie release, Harper Collins has a slew of game/movie inspired books for the Angry Bird lovers in your life.

The Angry Birds Movie Official Guidebook (what kid DOESN'T love an official guidebook?)

The Angry Birds Movie: Laughtastic Joke Book

The Angry Birds Movie: Big Trouble on Bird Island and Seeing Red
(These are what my friend calls "spinner books" from her days working at Borders-- those square kids' books that are usually found on spinner displays)

The Angry Birds Movie: Meet the Angry Birds and Too Many Pigs
(These are Level 2 I Can Read books-- a little text-heavy for where MeiMei's at right now, but still enjoyable for her)

The Angry Birds Movie: The Junior Novel
(A great fit for mid-elementary school kids-- especially reluctant readers)

How's that for a great list to jump-start the summer reading in your house?

Because This is the Week....

'The Hobbit' & Secrets of Smaug the Dragon: Is Benedict Cumberbatch the Most Wicked Character in the Upcoming Film?

Isn't that awesome?

(Also awesome, Mister read the whole thing to me this morning... and only needed help with a few words!)

Epic books

As in the movie, not the adjective.

Like with Man of Steel, we got a bunch of Epic books for review.  In fact, we got the books before I'd even heard of the movie.  lol

Again, I love the variety.  Two spinner books, two "I Can Read" books and a junior novel.

Boo and Mister have really enjoyed these.

In fact, the junior novel was Mister's first chapter book.

Here's the list of titles:
Epic: The Junior Novel
Epic: MK Saves the Day (I Can Read level 2)
Epic: Meet the Leafmen (I Can Read level 2)
Epic: Welcome to Moonhaven
Epic: Attack of the Boggans

Man of Steel books

We got a whole pile of Man of Steel books for review and they are lots of fun.  I haven't had the chance to read them all yet, but I love the variety.

Man of Steel: Reusable Sticker Book
by John Sazaklis
My kids LOVE sticker books.  Mister got one for his birthday last year and it kept his attention part of every day for quite a while. I was impressed.  So a Superman one?  Awesome!

Man of Steel: The Early Years
by Frank Whitman
This one is a junior novel.  Nobody's had a chance to read it yet, sorry! but Boo and Mister have liked the other junior novels we've tried.  And hey, it's Superman!  Mister is at that age... all things super heroes are automatically amazing. :)

Man of Steel: Superman Saves Smallville
by John Sazaklis
This is what my friend refers to as a "spinner book"-- you know, the square ones that book stores keep on spinner racks?  In this one, villains have come to Earth and Superman must save his town.

Man of Steel: The Fate of Krypton
by John Sazaklis
Another spinner book.  This one about Krypton and Superman being sent to Earth.

Man of Steel: Superman's Powers
by Lucy Rosen
An "I Can Read" level 2 book.  We're reading a lot of this kind of thing lately.  Well, Mister is.  Really they're a little too easy, but that's not always a bad thing.  It's, obviously, all about Superman.

Man of Steel: Friends and Foes
by Lucy Rosen
Another "I Can Read" level 2.  This one introduces kids to the various characters, both good and evil.
